The Ebro Delta and its Natural Park

The Ebro Delta is the largest humid area in Catalonia, with an area of 320 square kilometers. It is one of the most important wetland areas of the western Mediterranean.

The balance between its natural richness and the exploitation by humans has never been easy, therefore,in 1983, the Generalitat of Catalonia approved the creation of the Nature Reserve of the Ebro Delta, which covers the regions of Montsià (right hand side of the Delta) and the Baix Ebre (left hand side of the Delta).

In the left side hand of the Delta, we have the town of Deltebre, where we find the headquarters of the Nature Reserve of the Ebro Delta. You can find some towns and villages that are part of the right hand side of the Delta, like Amposta, which together with its hamlets(Balada and Poblenou del Delta), is the most populated town. The interpretive center of the lagoons in the Nature Reserve of the Ebro Delta is located in the Pond of Encanyissada.
